Here's the story behind it. The photo was taken at 6 p.m during the week, and the thing about this hour is, once it's marked by the bells from the nearby cathedral, everything closes within the next 10 to 15 minutes. The stores close, the cafes take their tables in, the people go home. Exception is only Thursday when, for some reason, everything works till 8 p.m.

Стандарт "Кирил и Методий" от Eenk

С наближаването на 24 Май, всяка година се тръби за незнанието на младите хора, масовата липса на писмена култура, остаряването на образователната система и кадрите към нея.
В Eenk.com пуснаха пост, накратко разглеждащ проблемите в българския език.
Обърнете по-сериозно внимание на изключително уместната статия за "Капитал" и на развиващият се Neolog.

Съвсем кратки извадки от статията, което съвсем не значи, че трябва да си спестите пълното четене:

Ще направя нещо по-сериозно, защото поредицата от нехание за езика и избухване покрай 24 май ме кара да си мисля, че проблемът е в неадекватността на институциите, които уж стопанисват и популяризират (стария) език. А ме е яд, защото в момента българският е най-крив, развиващ се и по-интересен от когато и да било.

Миналото лято Oxford English Dictionary (тегло 65 кг, 20 тома, цена $1200) обяви официално, че спира да излиза на хартия, затова ние не трябва да преоткриваме топлата вода, като печатаме.

Всичко одобрено от стандарта "Кирил и Методий" ще е в публична, отворена база данни, която ще позволява външни програми (т.е. разработчици) да се обръщат към нея и да връща резултати. Така например всяко дете програмист може да интегрира речника в блога/форума си и машината да проверява коментарите за правопис.

Толкова е логично и нискобюджетно (по мои изчисления ще отнеме година и ще струва колкото 3 от черните коли на НСО), че не знам защо някой държавник не го е финансирал досега и да нахлузи един ореол от PR и обществена любов. След време като нищо да сложат този човек на банкнота; повярвайте ми. (Ако ползваме банкноти тогава.)

Ех, надай се. Никой от нашите хубостници няма да тръгне да си прави ПР на такова ниво, колкото и да е евтино. Друго си е кебапчета и простотия до шия - по-скъпо, но ефективно.

Злободневие

Преди малко ми попадна статия във в. Дневник, цитираща немския "Ханделсблат" и темата "Бедността в България се увеличава".
Преди анализа, ето кратък цитат:

България е бедна, даже много бедна страна, a икономическата криза и непоследователните действия на кабинета допълнително увеличиха бедността. Това се казва в анализ на в. "Ханделсблат" за страната ни, цитиран от БТА.

И на самите българи им е ясно, че не са особено заможни, че богатите западноевропейци печелят средно три пъти повече от тях. Когато преди няколко седмици собственият им премиер ги призова към по-особен вид спестовност обаче, на мнозина им дойде в повече. Така авторът Щефан Менцел представя идеята на Бойко Борисов за самозадоволяване със селскостопански продукти и по-конкретно за садене на картофи.

Обикновено коментирам подобни проблеми в Skype, но тази заслужава по-сериозно внимание. Няма да осъждам управлението - всички сме наясно, че са зле и се гаврят с хората. Споделям от името на млад човек, който, живот и здраве, ще учи в чужбина скоро време. Не си мислете, че съм от заможно семейство и ще чакам парички от България. Нищо подобно. Намеренията са ми час по-скоро да си намеря работа и да се издържам сама, защото, както ще видите по-долу, не може да става и дума да се надявам на издръжка от бедната ни страна.

Та, по-рано днес ходих до агенция Интеграл, за да се регистрирам в сайт за настаняване в Холандия. Когато се прибрах вкъщи, разгледах по-обстойно условията при регистрация и особено впечатление ми направи един лимит - ако имаш годишен доход от ~ над 33 000 евро, трябва допълнително да се разбираш с фирмата за настаняване. Раздробено по месеци, излиза, че месечният доход не трябва да е над 2750 евро.

В горната статия се казва, че хората в Западна Европа вземат заплати поне три пъти по-големи от нашите, но нивото е всъщност доста по-различно.
От наблюдения знам, че масово хората във Великотърновско вземат не повече от 150-200лв на месец [като говоря за обикновени работници, продавачи, сервитьори и все такива масови професии с работно време от ~ 12 часа] при минимална заплата 240лв. [разликата се получава след облагане с данъци и какви ли не щуротии от страна на частният сектор]. Събрано излиза, че годишният доход на един обикновен българин е колкото месечната заплата на един обикновен западноевропеец [при минимална заплата от 1200 евро]. А какви ти сравнения с 33 000+ евро...

А иначе, така хубавата идея за равенство в ЕС къде отиде?
Ще заприличаме ли на евреи в нацистка Германия, на които им е нужно да си изкарват специално разрешение за работа и пребиваване [визирам последните данни, изнесени от Холандия - български и румънски граждани могат да бъдат наети на работа там, само ако работодателят има изрично разрешение да ги наема]?

Но както един приятел каза:
- Ами като си сложил бръмбар за премиер, такива ще са му изцепките...
Ще чакаме "бръмбарите" да ни унищожат до корен.

Science convention

Yeap, it's the conventions season.

I was asked to present at the Bulgarian - Ukranian annual science convention today. This year the themes were "Cosmos and us", "Yuri Gagarin and the dreams beyond the atmosphere" and "Atom".
My presentation was on "Atom - When the constructive can lead to global destruction". In overall, I talked about the "nuclear race" in the middle of XX century, nuclear bombs and nuclear power plants - mostly about the Chernobyl disaster and about Fukushima 1 and what happens after such catastrophies.
I recieved great feedback from the Ukranian lectors and students about my respectful and full review on Chernobyl, especially so closely to the memorial day [26 April].
I'm glad I met these guys again. The group from Gorlovka participated last year on the same convention, so we had quite a good chat afterward.

I also got a certificate for best performance [yes, one more in the collection]:

For the first time, since I have memories, we have snow in March, and quite a stable cold. That means the summer won't come at least till the end of May and that works great for me.
Also I overslept terribly this morning and now I'm waiting for the taxi to come. At least the day will pass faster.

PS: Cultural lesson:
Every March we give to each other bracelets called "мартеници" for luck and health. We wear them till we see a stork or a swallow [but not me, I wear them during the whole year]. When we see one, we hang the martenitsa on a fruitful tree so that it can be productive. It's a really old pagan tradition and it's one of the celebrations I love the most, because it's ours not some american bullshit.

Roses and Nausea

I should've listened to my morning horoscope that simply said: "Don't go out today, if possible.", even though I don't trust such bullshit, it could've spared me an awful half-day at school. I left earlier, because for the three hours of presence, I listened enough for love, hearts, condoms and regular AIDS testing if you can't control your animal instincts.
Also, the whole city is full of Red cross volunteers, dressed as angels who give free condoms and some flyers with information for retards.
That Valentine's day exaggeration is giving me nausea every year.

Yarrr!

Long time no see during the early pre-morning hours, my dear followers. Yet, I'm in "flu" vacation for a week and in this post I'll share my thoughts about the internet piracy, provoked by the recent events, described below.
See, we live in a consuming society...no, "bying" society. We're surrounded by commercials who shout "BUY ME! NO, ME! YOU DON'T NEED ME, BUT YOU HAVE TO BUY ME, BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE DOES!".
But when you sit infront of your computer, go into the sacred heavenly place called "INTERNET" and see the holy "DOWNLOAD" button, your inner pirate tells you "Hallo thar'! CLICKCLICKCLICK! It's free!"
Then come the problems.
There are these guys, who spend hell of a lot effort, repeating to you that downloading ruins other people's lives. The truth is - it ruins their lives, because their pockets are getting lighter. Usually, those who complain are producers, publishers or random agents who take 70-80% of the money who, as they keep saying to you, go to the artist. There's also the government that claims internet piracy is illegal and all those connected organisations who are hired to "control" torrent trackers[the usual suspects and please gods/aliens bless them for their existence!] or other "illegal" websites who provide free stuff.
Which is exactly what happened these days. Long story short: We have two big torrent trackers here. The agency of "control" is pursuing them for a long time. Once or twice in a year we have a blast of news like "we cought x admins and we confiscated y computers/servers/whatever " and the tracker is down for a few days. After that someone restores it on a new domain, or just from some back-up and the users are happy. Everything goes okay until the next blast alarm, then it starts all over again.
I'm asking, why is that necessary? Why do they have to play cat & mouse,"Tom&Jerry" style, all the time?
As an internet user, I believe in the free file sharing. Sure I'd buy a game/book/album if it's worth it, but since it's on the internet why not try it first for free. Things are a bit different with software, because if it's not for commercial purposes[or in other words, to use it to make money] I don't approve paying $400 for a cd + serial number [I'm talking about Adobe Photoshop in this case]. Oh and I'm never paying for Windows, ever.
I'm looking forward to the time, when these "government-user wars" will end but til then, I'll continue to shamelessly download everything I need from the internet and seed for those who want the same.


PS: I'm not drunk. I'm just pissed off. And I'm going to sleep.
